Volunteers are important to the Children’s Advocacy Center. The Advocacy Center is always looking for those who have an interest in children and want to become involved. There are numerous ways to help. We have one-time opportunities and on-going weekly opportunities. Children’s Advocacy Center Of The Bluegrass Volunteers may:
The Children’s Advocacy Center accepts student interns for college practicum courses requiring fifteen or more hours per week. Student interns are supervised by a Masters level social worker. Anyone interested in an internship at the CAC may contact Jackie Cobb at (859) 225-5437 to request an interview. A copy of your ID is necessary to conduct the required background check before beginning any service at the CAC.
In Kind Donations
You can help us carry out our important mission by donating an item from our wish list. Currently, the Center’s greatest needs include:
- Gas Cards/Kroger Cards
- DVD-R 8x
- Nutritious, individually wrapped snacks
- Copy Paper
- Gently used laptop computers
Cars for Kids – Donate your vehicle to the CAC!
You can now donate your car, truck, RV, boat, motorcycle, or other vehicle to the Children’s Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass. There are huge tax advantages to doing this and all proceeds will be used to support our work at the Center. Memorial or Tribute Gifts
You may chose to honor or memorialize a friend or loved one by donating to the Children’s Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass. Your gift enables the Center to provide the most comprehensive response to sexual abuse while celebrating and recognizing the life or accomplishments of others. Your request for a Memorial or Tribute Gift should include:
- Your full name, address and phone number.
- An indication as to whether the gift is in “Memory of” or in “Honor of”.
- The name of the person being memorialized or honored.
- The name and address of the person(s) to whom the acknowledgment should be sent.
An acknowledgement of your gift will be sent to the person being honored or the family of the person being remembered.
What will your donation mean to the Children’s Advocacy Center?
Your donation ensures that the Children’s Advocacy Center will continue to provide a safe and child-friendly location where children can go when they have been sexually abused.
The Center also receives support from local charitable organizations such as the United Way of the Bluegrass, Children’s Charity Fund, Lexington Medical Society, and the Lexington Orphan Society. On a state and national level, the Center is funded by the Victims of Crime Act, National Children’s Alliance, Child Victims Trust Fund and the Cabinet for Health and Family Services.
