05 Jun CAC Receives National Campaign Award

WASHINGTON – On Monday, June 3, the Children’s Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass was recognized for winning the 2013 National Children’s Alliance Public Awareness Campaign Contest for their campaign titled, “Be the End.”  The organization was presented a $10,000 check to fully implement this campaign in Central Kentucky.  

The Children’s Advocacy Center received this award for communicating strong messaging about child abuse prevention and intervention through print and radio ads.  All materials from the winning campaign will be made available by National Children’s Alliance to more than 750 children’s advocacy centers across the country for use in localized campaigns. 

“We’re incredibly proud of this campaign and excited to have the opportunity to share it with other children’s advocacy centers across the country,” said Andrew Oliver, Executive Director of Children’s Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass.  “This campaign highlights the important work of children’s advocacy centers, while also encouraging adults to end abuse in the life of a child.”

Kansas City-based, Sassafras Marketing partnered with the Children’s Advocacy Center to help bring the campaign to life. Sassafras created specific campaign materials to fit distribution channels including print media, outdoor advertising via billboards and transit advertising, and digital media elements. 

“This campaign would not have been possible without the support of Sassafras Marketing,” said Oliver.  “They donated their time and talent to help us produce this beautiful campaign. We’re so thankful for their support.”    

In presenting the award, Teresa Huizar, Executive Director of National Children’s Alliance, noted the campaign is effective because it communicates child victims of abuse can find hope and healing. “This is a beautiful campaign,” Huizar remarked. “I hope centers all across the country will use these materials to increase awareness of our unified mission.”

The Children’s Advocacy Center of the Bluegrass coordinates the investigation and treatment of the most serious cases of child abuse in 17 Central Kentucky counties.  Each year more than 600 children come to the Center to receive forensic interviews, medical exams, and restorative care – all at no cost to a child’s family.
